The Dalai Download

It happened this year like it happens every year.  The Dalai Lama recently turned 87 years old and the media commemorated the event with articles about how the Chinese government plans to interfere in the appointment of a successor when the current Dalai Lama dies.  Buddhists, naturally, don’t agree that a spiritual leader should be appointed by the government.  The Chinese government recognises an opportunity to control what it sees as a dissident group.

Some years ago, I wrote the short story “The Dalai Sanction” to explore this concept in a fantasy setting. The story was published in the magazine Andromeda Spaceways.  The rights to the story reverted to me after publication, so I’ve decided to put it here as a PDF download.

To download the PDF, click the link at the end of this post, and the PDF file will be copied to your download folder. (Check the Download icon at the top right of your browser window to view its progress.)

PS
The cover image in the file is one I generated using the Dream online AI illustrator at https://app.wombo.art/.  (I intend to write something about my experience with AI illustrators in another post.)

Happy reading!
